Description

This dataset includes all reports and summaries of raw data supporting the results presented in the paper “Extracellular vesicles from patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) demonstrate enhanced pro-coagulatory activity”. The objective of this study was to investigate the number, characteristics, function, and compositions of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from arterial or venous blood in patients with CAD compared to symptomatic controls. In this study, Arterial and venous blood from CAD and control patients (n=40 & 20 respectively) were collected at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) after obtaining informed consent for the project. Blood was centrifuged at 1500 x g for 15 min at RT to generate platelet-poor plasma (PPP) followed by 13,000 x g for 2 min at RT to isolate platelet-free plasma (PFP). EV fractions were obtained from 500µL of PFP via size exclusion chromatography using the IZON qEV original column.

Data on EVs parameters include: i. circulating EV numbers and size measured by Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA); ii. the numbers of EV subtypes such as phosphatidylserine-positive EVs (PS+EVs), platelet-derived EVs (PDEVs) and endothelial-derived EVs (EDEVs) measured by flow cytometry; iii. the thrombogenicity of circulating EVs measured by thrombin generation assay; iv. preliminary untargeted proteomic data on protein markers measured by mass spectrometry.
